Instagram re-compresses your image

Common causes of blur
- Huge files/resolution. Upload a 6000px original and Instagram scales it down to 1080px with heavy compression.
- Off-spec sizing. Wrong ratios get cropped or stretched, costing sharpness.
- Already re-saved images. Repeated lossy saves degrade quality cumulatively.
Prep before you post
- Target 1080px. Instagram displays at up to 1080px wide. Resize to that first so it has no reason to shrink it again. See the social media size guide.
- Match the ratio. Use 1080×1080 (square) or 1080×1350 (portrait) to avoid cropping and stretching.
